ChatGPTの活用アイデア① -

ChatGPT（Open AI社が開発した、人工知能を使ったチャットサービス）は、現在、様々な分野で活用されており、当社でも活用しています。以下、当社が実践しているちょっとした活用方法をご紹介します。

ChatGPTは文章を要約するのが得意なため、これを利用した活用方法が考えられます。具体的には、内容を把握したい英文特許クレームが長く且つ難解な場合に、これをChatGPTに簡単な英語に要約してもらい、この要約でクレームの大体の内容を把握することができます。

例として、アップル社の次の特許クレーム（https://bit.ly/3rFbLSV）を使ってみます。

この要約文は、特許クレームの内容を完全に正確に反映した内容ではないと思われますが、特許クレームの大まかな内容を把握することはできると思われます。

必要や好みによってワード数を指定すると、指定したワード数の前後で要約してくれます。

次に、あくまでも参考として、上記特許クレームを特許明細書の要約（Abstract）用に短くすることを試してみます。上記特許クレームは287ワードのため、例えば米国で要求される「150ワード以内」（37 CFR§1.72(b)）にするようにChatGPTに次のように依頼してみます。

すると、次のように97ワードに短縮された文章が返されてきました。

Abstractは様々なことを考慮に入れて作成されるため（『Abstractのまとめ方』参照）、これをこのままAbstractとして使用することは危険と思われます（カッコが使用されているのも気になるところです）。また、ChatGPTは、文章を要約する際に「自分の言葉で」（元の文章にはない言葉を使って）説明するクセがあるように思われます（要約とは本来そういうものかもしれませんが）。しかし、ChatGPTによる要約手法が、長すぎる特許クレームをAbstract用に短くするための参考になるかもしれません。

ちなみに、ChatGPTは翻訳ツールとしても使われており、ChatGPTによる翻訳の質がどの程度か気になったため、ChatGPT自身に直接聞いてみたところ、次のように正直に答えてくれました。
